Botox® & Dermal Fillers
We are excited to announce that we offer dental Botox® and dermal filler injections! Our goal with dentistry is to correct our patients’ smiles. We achieve this goal not only with dental treatments, but also with facial treatments.
Along with dentistry, Dr. Haleigh Blackwell also focuses on facial aesthetics. She is able to enhance patients’ facial contours using Botox® and dermal filler injections.
Botox® is a safe, effective FDA-approved medication most commonly used to eliminate facial wrinkles and frown lines by decreasing the movement of the muscles in the troubled areas. It is specially formulated with a purified protein, which relaxes the muscles when injected. Botox® can remove the wrinkles of time or make small improvements in an otherwise perfect face.
Getting a Botox® injection is a minimally invasive procedure that allows patients to return to normal daily activities immediately afterward. If necessary, a topical anesthesia can be used before the Botox® is injected under the skin using a small needle. The results can typically last anywhere from 3-5 months on average.
Smoothing out folds and wrinkles can make an enormous difference in a person’s appearance and sometimes even make them look several years younger. Dermal fillers are used to help reverse the signs of aging and provide patients with a more natural, youthful appearance compared to surgical face lifts. Dermal fillers are used to:
- Reduce or eliminate wrinkles
- Reduce the appearance of scars
- Enhance lips
- Enhance the contours of the face
There are a number of types of dermal fillers available today, including:
- Collagen Based Fillers (i.e. Zyplast and Cosmoderm)
- Hyaluronic acid based fillers (i.e. Restylane® and Juvederm™)
- Calcium hydroxyl apatite fillers (i.e. Radiesse®)
Not only will Botox® and dermal fillers enhance your facial features, but they can also be used for other health purposes. Dr. Blackwell will use Botox® and dermal fillers to inhibit jaw clenching. The injections relax certain facial muscles which stop the clenching and associated pain. Some patients who suffer from TMJ pain or bruxism and obtain an injection are even able to stop wearing their splints.
Dr. Blackwellis highly trained and certified to administer Botox® and dermal filler injections, so you are sure to be in safe hands. If you are interested in learning more about Botox® and dermal filler injections, please contact us.
